"(One exception to "faving is cool": If you see girls talking amongst themselves about sex or their bodies or something, don't fav that. We know you can see it, the same way we know you can overhear us in public, but it's like if we were having the conversation at a coffee shop and you winked at us. Eww.)"

I can only tell it's early access because some of the bosses like the Wizened Hag is super unbalanced and there's locked content otherwise it's pretty darn polished.

A Hat In Time looks awesome. Yay for more 3D platformers!

The procedural animation is absolutely fantastic, makes for the cutest walk animations ever in a game. I love that you can gain momentum if you keep jumping like Mario 64.

YES YES YES

FINALLY this article! The problem with most survival games these days is they took inspiration from Minecraft and not STALKER. They're not simulations of worlds where stuff is happening without taking account of your presence.

As a muslim, this is absolutely brilliant!

Great breakdown. Newfound appreciation for the strategical depth possible in a Tetris game. I would never be able to memorise or be able to plan so many steps in advance so kudos to him. I wonder if Tetris will get bitten by the ESPORTS MONSTER!

That was a thrilling read, thanks Patrick! I'm glad to see Jason Rohrer's methods for trying to focus on hardcore fans of his games rather than trying to hit a bigger market (his views on Steam sales) is paid off with interesting play stories like here and Castle Doctrine.

git gud

But I need my video fix of Kleptok on screen! Would love if Kotaku really got into video, seems a bit late to not be into that already.

Love this list, especially Betrayer (going to finish it soon) and Wolfenstein (indeed, so much better than Half Life 2). Wolfenstein TNO has set a new standard in FPSs for me to prove older mechanics and map design still have life to give a refreshing play experience. Blazko is one of the best FPS protagonists

Aww yeah even game devs getting in on it (Dreamfall Chapters' Martin Bruusgaard)

Thank you, Blizzard.

SWEET SWEET GIBS!

You know, I never finished Far Cry 2 but I loved what I played of it and can agree with all of this. I should get to it soon. Weapons jamming and breaking led to some of my favourite game stories. The most unanimously hated thing about respawning checkpoints, I excused for being in theme with being in a war-torn

Please tell me you've played Triad! The puzzle game by Anna Anthropy, where 3 partners are trying to sleep on a small bed, and you need to figure out the right positions for each since they have different behaviours.
