From Software has never released budget figures, but with marketing I could easily see them pushing up that high.  I saw commercials and ads for the game everywhere, even on non-gaming related sites.  Once it started to get big they spent a chunk of change to spread the word even wider.

The only loyalty program I still use is for a local grocery store, and that’s only because I can put in a phone number I no longer have that’s tied to an address I haven’t lived at in 20 years.

If someone agrees with me and tries to make it about the Chinese aspect and not the spyware aspect I’ll have zero problems shooting them down for their bias (not really racism, more jingoism.)
