Playdek actually has kind of a sketchy reputation. They've put out some decent-to-good board game adaptations, but their Summoner Wars app for iOS has been completely broken for a few months, and players actually lost their in-game-purchases as a result of the bug. On top of that, they have never delivered a product

I would just add that a teensy tiny bit more background on the narrative behind the games would be nice. The fact that there is no mention of Riverboat Ron Rivera in an intro to this year's playoffs is a _crime_.

Frankly, sports are a great thing and worth caring about. The NFL in particular is a huge cultural media entity. .About 6 million people watched the Breaking Bad finale. Hunger Games 2 raked in $141 million opening weekend, and if we estimate a (conservative!) $8 ticket price, that makes for about 17 million viewers.

Extra comical sidebar to the booing discussion: though some number crunching, Grantland's Bill Barnwell has shown that Seahawks fans are, in fact, the most capable booers in the NFL. Sports, everybody.

You only need to re-purchase the game if you're playing on a console, like a peasant. Otherwise it's plain old DLC. :D

I haven't started Papers proper yet, but I did play through the beta earlier this year. I remember being really impressed by the game when I noticed that it ultimately discourages you from telling people why you're denying them entry. Doing so is extra time spent cross referencing your rules versus the document and

XCOM is a great game, but it's a great game from 2012. Glad you made it to the party though, because it's one of my favorites from last year. :)

I'm pretty sure Monaco is the only co-op game I've ever played in which "DON'T WORRY TEAM, I'LL BE THE DIVERSION!" is an actual strategy that sometimes helps. For that - and more specifically, for being able to yell that out as your cover story when you screw up - it gets a big thumbs up from me.

Crossing my fingers that Antichamber makes an appearance on Part Two. Wonderful game, and it's nice to see one that really embraces the spatial shenanigans you can only get out of a video game in a time when games are trying so desperately to be movies or Very Serious Art. That it did so while alternating between

See, that's the kind of family tree insanity that qualifies a guy to be an X-Man.

I don't think I'm going to watch the movie, but by god I hope it gives me an excuse to scream I'LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR for the next couple years.

A lot of it appears to be tracing from porn, too, which adds an extra layer of WTF.

There's a tremendous amount wrong with that story. Personally, my biggest issue with it was that it tried to debunk "might makes right" morality by having Superman beat its proponents in a fight. It's completely mind boggling to me that it ever picked up any kind of steam as a purportedly "good" story.
