One detail Mortal Dictata either didn’t know or forgot: interviews have been kicking around since 2012 (example) establishing that both Witcher III and Cyberpunk 2077 would be on next gen consoles, which were then the PS4 and XB1. This fact was firmly established enough that the Wikipedia page for Cyberpunk 2077

on the other hand, iirc you can upgrade your purchase once you buy a new console (which will come down in price in a year or so) free of charge.

Everyone but you is a terrible person?

I like the tabletop game and R. Talsorian.

Yeah. Like, is it possible that they put a bunch of racial stereotypes in the game because people in the future still have prejudices and some of them are still racist? And maybe not everyone has united as one community? Wow.

I don’t think this is about how fiction works. Of course fiction imagines a world and then situates a story within it. That’s not at issue.

Yes, exactly!

This comes up a lot in the review. As if these are the only two options.

By attaching DLC to a physical item they are selling you two items for a higher price that most people would be willing to pay for the DLC alone.

There’s a hair of comparison there. Both games rely heavily on abstractions compared to, say, a game heavy in cinematics.

Heavy? If anything, it was very light considering what it did. There were times that I would have preferred more heft to it.

Certainly a few Sonic games (Colors, a version of Riders, Unleashed), Goldeneye (which I quite enjoyed), several indie games that were download only, Cooking Mama, two Harvest Moon games, and there may be a few others.

I like all the systems I’ve ever owned. Even the Wii U, multiple people’s least favorite here, at least gave me (a) backwards compatibility with the Wii, (b) Xenoblade Chronicles X, (c) other games like Injustice, which I gave a shot on the Wii U first, and (d) Earthbound. The controller served as a backup remote

I’m firmly in the wait category. I waited for The Witcher III until the complete edition came out, and enjoyed it a lot!

I think you missed the point.

To be fair, he probably doesn’t care how fun you think he is at parties. To be honest, I wouldn’t either.

Miyazaki just wants to pick up trash for his neighborhood. The tabloid is obviously looking for some spark of ego or some wry “I hate modern anime” opinion. Leave him alone!

Gloomhaven at least had the benefit of depth and longevity. The way that Catch the Snitch is described, it feels more like a $60-80 game (like Betrayal) in $120 clothes. The components don’t seem worth the price increase.

Honestly, I think both the political atmosphere and Rowling’s exclusionary comments pale in comparison to the price and a generic fatigue around tie-in board games. $120 is a lot of money to spend on something that might not pan out, and miniature-based board gaming is on the more intensive end of board games. So obviously the hour allotments as controlled by corporate are not strictly an economic measure, right? If these allotments were carefully designed for productivity or efficiency, then they wouldn’t be offered up like this as a prize.
