If only there were a term for a review that came out before the game released. Like an antespection or a pre-review. Maybe you could jam two words together to make them more elegant, like previreview (previous+review).

No, meta isn’t etiquette. Insisting that you have to play the game a certain way falls right into “you think you need to stick to the system to be good.” People don’t generally agree on meta; that alleged agreement is an illusion that makes the dogma stronger.

Similarly, I would be surprised if you liked Hogan’s Heroes, The Match Game, Family Feud, or Running Man.

“Meta” reminds me of medieval Christian systems of organizing virtues, vices, and sins. If you start out trying to be a good person and look at it for general advice, you might learn a thing or two. If you think you need to stick to the system to be good, you’ll more than likely be insufferable to people who don't.

I don’t see how to argue you out of your deep-seated prejudice. And frankly, I don’t care that much because I don’t like Biden. May you not fall prey to the misinformation you are vulnerable to. Have a good day.

I am not recontextualizing, but resisting your recontextualizing. You are the one who insists on reading that part of the interview in a hostile way. In the part you quoted, he is challenging the claim by an executive that Silicon Valley is the economic engine of America. You suggest Biden has gone a step further, and

It’s still an absurd claim. Whether you mean Silicon Valley or plastic surgery, they employ a fraction of the people employed in manufacturing.

1. Even regarding your narrow concern that he might be against freedom of expression in video games, I don’t see a sign of that. Biden, for example, disagreed with Trump’s claim that violent video games were to blame for mass shootings (The Hill). And I haven’t seen signs that he’s against freedom of expression in

I’m not a Biden fan. That said:

I had the same thought.

HE TOOK OFF HIS SANDALS?

if people assume their jobs are safe no matter how terribly they work, then the work is only going to be mediocre.

Just a side note that Japan, more than most places, makes games that feature many people not from Japan. Mario? Shamus? Zelda? Metal Gear? Many JRPGs? Shenmue? Looking at the few games where creators were strict with setting (rather than those that roll with it) in order to suggestt a fictional setting is above

I didn’t say I was good at it.

As someone with over a million in Salty Bets, I’m not clicking. It’s too addictive.

“Feminazi” is a dog whistle that communicates to other whistlers that they subscribe to the ultraconservative set, to the point that they can no longer merely refer to feminists, but rather must turn everything into an insult to support the "everybody is against me" narrative.

Shit, Gita. You convinced me to play Sims 4, a game that I had foresworn after all of EA’s shenanigans. Your weekly recaps with Tim Rogers were the best; I loved seeing you develop from the first episode figuring the video format out to being a fun, flippant duo. You wrote long takes that shifted how I think about
