I agree that Syracuse probably shouldn’t be in, and maaaaaaaaybe Notre Dame too, but Louisville easily deserves to be in. They’re better than a ton of teams who are assured of a tourney berth, and they would be locks if they played in any other conference. The “they have had enough chances” argument is pretty dumb.…

Bilas’ idea is dumb as hell, because he essentially suggest ignoring potentially 4 or 5 games worth of data for no good reason at all. If you don’t want to consider conference tourneys because they offer a potential resume boost for power conference teams, then why would you consider regular season conference records…

In a better world, the committee would require teams to have a better-than-.500 conference record to be eligible for an at-large bid. Teams who finish 8-8 or 7-9 or worse should know going into their conference tournaments that they’re either winning the automatic bid or going to the NIT.

Notre Dame was without their best player for almost half the season, with Wells they are 14-5 and won the Maui early in the season taking out a couple of ranked teams. They should be in because of who they are now.

Couldn’t agree more. But, Syracuse (and either Louisville or ND) will likely get in, because $$$. It is sad as hell.
