My dad is only a few months younger than his youngest aunt. It used to be more common when families were larger/family planning was less controllable.

My undergrad thesis advisor won a MacArthur grant last year. I lived in constant terror of academically disappointing her because not only was she a MacArthur Genius, but she was SO FUCKING COOL, and I would always get nervous and stammer when I said hi to her in the local grocery.

It’s really amazing to see women of all ages represented here, when I first heard of this scholarship for some reason I figured it was only for people of college age, but I guess that’s just my own latent ageism talking. Congrats to all!!!
