There are some people I enjoy following on Twitter and I’ve had meaningful communications with one or two people (for example, William Gibson cleared up something I’d been wondering about in one of his stories for decades). But by and large it’s total garbage that makes me believe even more in the Philosopher’s Zombie…

I’ve been saying “not all women are like that” my entire life, to idiots who make presumptions about what women might do. That’s why I can understand why some liberal men might say “not all men!” to combat the illiberal notion of generalization.

Facebook is your highlight reel or - at the least - your trailer. It's the stuff you're going to talk with those same friends about over drinks when you get together with a bunch of friends *in person* but don't have time for every night/weekend. You're going to share the cute photos, the stories of how awesome…

He can't possibly understand what you're saying.. really. Pearls for Swine and all that. Good try though. I'd just make fun of his screen name.. but then, I'm kinda youngish at heart.

You keep talking about food needs rather than the topic at hand - energy and other resources. It's like you're intentionally cherry picking topics and data to make a particular point, when the article is clearly talking about a different subject than you - energy consumption.

I watched it, and it touched me in many of the same ways that the original airing of Carl Sagan's Cosmos did when I was a child. It felt straightforward and when put in the context of those who know about science a bit simple. But you need simple, and you need it to be inspiring to the people who matter: the kids…
