It’s my second favorite of his films after Raging Bull. Vastly underrated.  If anybody wants to know why Ryder was such a big deal in the 80's and 90's check it out.

At my theater everyone collectively lost their minds when Spider-man swung in. They were quiet and gasping, then Peter Parker’s face appeared and they kids - mostly High School and middle school - jumped up. One guy screamed “your screwed!” and they all laughed and did the war chant with the collected army of Wakanda.

It’s similar in length to Titanic, Return of the King.

In short: Shut up, people.

Gotta stand up for Immortal Hulk. Issue #25 is successfully experimental in the same way the standout Hawkguy issues are, and it’s a real disturbing look into what Banner and the Hulk(s) are becoming.

It’s also a run full of really squishy body horror. Hulk Squish!

Of all the shows that regularly have musical guests this is the show that screws it up the most. All the late night talkers manage to get it right every night. They should just poach the music engineer from one of them.

There is a huge list. Compare the John Travolta of Urban Cowboy (dr. James Bridges at his peak) and Blowout (De Palma) with the one that was in Two of a Kind (Herzfeld) and Staying Alive (Stallone).

On the last episode I posted that I was looking forward to the episode-long Chidi freak out.

I’m so glad I didn’t get that. So very glad.

So... nobody involved in this show has won an Emmy for it?

Dude. I’m a teacher and librarian. That is indeed the dream.

This is going to be an amazing show on rewatch.  They laid out the foundations for everything in that first series.  It all starts with the scripts, and these scripts have been so good.

I already used it once today, abruptly ending a conversation on the way out of work.  Four people looked at me strangely, one snorted.  I must befriend the snorter.

I don’t think it’s a valid question any more (and I have posed it more than once). This show has changed itself so many times. The first season was a comedy about subterfuge, and through time and diligent character work that’s never wavered it’s become a high stakes philosophical meditation on love and universal truth

All actors have a talent (one most work incredibly hard to hone) but need a guiding hand to help it come out. There are some actors who do great work but only with great directors.

I work in a school library but my public librarian colleges say it’s so common that they were shocked it made the news.

That said, as a librarian the most annoying part isn’t a missing book on the shelf. We are good at that kind of stuff: It’s librarianship 101.  What sucks would be when a patron comes up and says “It

I didn’t say that either. This is specific form of evangelicalism is white, and it’s what she chose to write about. It’s the kind that says things like slavery was ok due to the Mark of Cain. Which sadly, is still a real f-ing thing*.

I couldn’t go anywhere online today without hearing about how Werner Herzog is in love with Baby Yoda.

By the way, have you heard Herzog talk about Baby Yoda? Man’s seriously in love. You should look it up, he downright glows when he talks about it.

But he’s not an ambivalent hero. Right now he’s not a hero. He’s not even ambivalent. He’s the bad guy here. For now, at least.

So you generally don’t like redemption arcs? The Mandalorian isn’t a hero right now. He’s a very bad guy. He’s not Han Solo with a heart of gold. He’s not the Man with No Name who decides to play bad guys off each other while sparing the good. He’s a bad guy. And he’s going to bring a very powerful innocent into the

Oh, there is no fandom more whiny than Star Wars fans. The Mandalorian isn’t a good guy. He has no moral center. He’s tasked with bringing a baby to a man who will likely use him for evil. That’s the stakes here. A bad guy has the baby, the bad guy will bring the baby to the even worse guy.

If she’s watching a lot of Sheila E then she’s on the right track.

I just can’t wait for the upcoming full-episode Chidi freakout.
