I grew up in rural Vermont in the 70's. I’m embarassed to say that there were no African-Americans and few Latino’s in my Elementary school or High School. Many of my teachers were former 60's hippies. I later felt the naive optimism that such social insulation provides.

It’s pretty easy to package something when the safety of it’s occupants is not aven considered. This came out in the 70's and was about as safe as a car from the 30's.
