I disagree. I have an ‘04 C4S 996, bought it in late ‘13 with 55K miles on it and two prior owners. The only real maintenance I’ve had to deal with in th three years are brakes and a water cooler, at about $1500 each. Learn to change the oil yourself on this car (actually very easy), and you’ll save a bundle.

I have a 996 as well (an ‘04 C4S Cab., to be precise). My thought on the 996es are that since they are not the beloved air cooled 964's or the beloved 911s from the 60s and 70s, they are the most likely of any 911 model to undergo extensive resto-mods in the coming years.
