It's not about the readers being idiots. It's about passive language allowing white readers to not connect it to ourselves.

I know there is a phrase for it but I am completely blanking but it's one of those things where white people read this article and can completely distance themselves from the atrocities mentioned. That their lives have not been impacted by it at all. When, in reality that isn't true.

Thank you for the response! I agree, I also want the dark-skinned woman on Vogue, and Forbes!

It doesn't necessarily implicate them or put emphasis on the fact that they we the ones who behind 100% of these crimes. If you can highlight black people being the victims, surely you can at least make a note stating that white people were the perpetrators. It's an important thing to omit.

Words and symbols are important, people, maybe because we, as a civilization, use them as the main vessels of our ideas and history. A cross is always charged with religious symbology, the same way a color is relevant. Sure, whites were the ones oppressing the Black Community, but by not using the word you are erasing

Kinja has been broken ALL day, it finally gets fixed, and people are replying to nasty trolls and pushing them to the top of the black. For real? I'm giving YOU side-eye, ghostofcourtneystoddensboobs.

Yes. Yes. Yes to everything you just wrote. Thank you Hillary.

This world would be a much different place if the only people who became educated on the various genocides and acts of terror in Western history didn't have to come by that knowledge of their own volition. Imagine how much more compassion we would be able to share with one another if facing our own history

Preach.

But did they put their thing down, flip it and reverse it?

I'm here for this. Definitely here for a dark-skinned black woman being on the cover of Playboy ... wait am I being progressive or regressive?

I guess I am woman-ing wrong.... and I've never once referred to myself? my vagina? my intestines as an "inner goddess"

I do not have a "down there". Ms. James. Just an FYI.

Well, in her defense it would be difficult to eroticize a stork.

I really, really love it so much when people, male or female, tell me what women do and do not like. Because even though I know we're a monolith that experiences identical feelings in a massive universal synchronicity that boys and men can't even begin to fathom, my feeble lady brain can't keep track of those

"'Keep still,' he orders and slowly he inserts his thumb, inside me, rotating it around and around, storking the front wall of my vagina."

Hold on a second:

"The fact is, it's a love story... that there's a little bit of kinky sex in there is an added bonus."

Allow me to depart from being level-headed to use some caps:

Educate these damn kids!!!!
