You should never buy an old BMW if you can’t fix it yourself :P That’s the first thing I learned. I’ve been doing all my own engine work to keep costs down. I recently did a timing chain guide rebuild for my 540i’s engine, and the parts were like $600 total, as opposed to like $4000 to have a mechanic do the job.
