Well, I’m heartened to be getting these sorts of responses.  But many on the left seem to become really indignant at such attacks.

From headline to last line, inclusive.

Oh, I do miss the crosswords.  I had a streak where I could finish most Thursdays, and even got a couple Fridays completely done.

If you’re saying that my writing should be nationally published, thanks.

If this is some sort of aspersion based on the NYT’s reputation, I’ll proudly say that I have no clue where they stand with the cool kids nowadays. The commentariat here seems pretty far left, as I thought of the NYT (with a mild centrist streak).

I was never referring to racial slurs, but I suppose that’s the easiest card to play. Can we politely pretend that’s not necessary, and stick to the issue of appearance-based insults? Or I guess it actually segues perfectly into a point.

The left cries things like “body shaming” or “historically-oppressed demographic

Eh, is this a global site? Or are these people significantly experienced internationally? What’s it like in that village in the mountains?  Are Irish White now?  They used to not be.  Same with Italians.  Did their Oppression Card expire?  When?  What was it like to be Dutch in Medieval Japan?  A non-citizen in the

Ehh, semantic dancing. He’s calling you on it, and you display it here.

A rising tide raises all boats, but you seem to enjoy tearing everything down to a common denominator. I suppose demolition is easier than construction, but is it desirable?

You mock potato salad and rhythm. If you saw someone talking about Spud Webb

So why is it not ok for the right to mock the left’s appearance, but ok for the left to mock the right?

I ask as someone who hates both, but usually not on the basis of appearance.

Hey, I’m not here to signal virtue.  Just to point out that NA is pretty spectacular.

While I can’t speak for white people that claim they’re being oppressed, I will point out a strange trend:

White people by default seem to lose the intersectionality/oppression olympics. In an age where political discussions are becoming increasingly divorced from facts and figures (though this article brings out some

Whoa, watch which continent you’re disparaging.  North America has some of the most spectacular and diverse natural beauty in the world.

*indignity

As someone who tries to interact with all stripes of people, and lives in a place where I must, I’ll say that this caricature is not quite as accurate or as simple as you’d like it to be. I don’t deny it’s the case for some, but...

The left has gone off the rails. I suppose the right did first (it’s been two

We do? May I ask why?

Harriot writes to provoke and get clicks, and his articles are almost exclusively purple editorials that seek to alter the lexicon and the landscape of discussion.

Here, we observe a fairly understandable response to the provocation, whether this individual is white or latino... or kekistani.

That’s some gestapo shit, sure. And this is some gulag shit.

There are a few decent points buried in the purple hyperbole, but I don’t understand the need to fight racism with... racism. Or how the civil rights movement a few decades back was about empowering the disenfranchised, but this one seems to be all about

Let’s be clear here: “conservatism” hasn’t existed in the U.S. halls of power in some time. I’d say the better part of two decades.

I would love nothing more than for the U.S. to actually have a conservative party again, and to then be able to re-establish negotiation, compromise, and bipartisanship between

Or, you know, go to a place where people have to actually work and live outside. Yeah, there are some spectacular forms out there.

Let’s all signal virtue to each other while we’re merely noting that a game was announced.

“No matter how you slice it, Valve is the problem.”

False? There are many ways to slice this, and if you’re so concerned about the subpar games and communities, why do you not blame them and their creators?

Valve is under no obligation to perpetuate or enforce your views. I don’t understand the way of thinking that

I don’t understand why you or the comment section cannot trust sovereign humans to make decisions for themselves.

Steam has no obligation to act as a censor, and I do not understand that way of thinking. Obviously, we have different values and philosophies, but if someone wants to support a shitty game (by whatever

““There needs to be more civil, rational discussions than ever before. We need to be able to be less ‘butt-hurt’ at everything and listen to the other side for once. You can disagree, and that’s perfectly fine, but there needs to be communication. Simply blocking people you disagree with can only make the wall taller
