In many situations, loyalty could be replaced by dumbness. Being too loyal to anything or anyone stops you from thinking for yourself. You literally just follow someone else around. Therefore a less loyal animal might just be more intelligent.

Thanks for your reply. I definitely agree with you. My beef (ha!) is mostly aimed at people who make a difference between animals that have no real intelligence difference. A pig is as intelligent and loyal as a dog, and makes for an excellent pet. Eating a pig but ridiculing the chinese for eating dog is really close…

Tell me why they are more important? I love all animals equally, but i cant deny the fact that lobsters might even be more important then (especially domesticated) dogs and cats. The latter dont have a purpose in nature anymore. Lobsters are a part of the eco system.
