I think you might be right. The character is sort of a meathead, which was perfect for Affleck but does not seem like a good fit for Hamm.

Yes, good point. It's very interesting to note, of all the well known Scientologists today, how many are actors and how few are writers or people who genuinely "create." Paul Haggis is probably the most notable one, and he split from the group and has been vocal in his opposition to them.

This movie is essentially a spinoff of the 1st Wolverine movie, so that is the case. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes some kind of appearance the in the next X-Men movie.
