Captain America (1990)
The A.V. Club
That's a lot of negative sarcasm
Does the fact that they're cousins make it worse?
Sure, but then it also was only nominated for 2 Oscars and having a "clean sweep" of every award you're nominated for is an achievement in itself.
Geez, he's already made one multiple Oscar winning movie.
We're all about pigs who eat people these days.
Kind of surprised they didn't already make a Green Acres movie sometime in the 90s, with Steve Martin and, I dunno, Valeria Golino. And of course, M. Emmet Walsh as Mr Haney.
Strong men (like Jack Bauer) also cry.
Hollywood Shuffle… Robert Townsend's career did not go the way a lot of people thought it would back in the 80s.
Starring Joan Severance…
…the blood bank!
It's funny, Little Nicky seemed like the nadir of Adam Sandler's career when it came out, but it's a masterpiece compared to a lot of the movies he's made since.
"on foot in order to recover her car and wallet from an impound lot"
I was never really interested in seeing that movie, but that sounds incredible.
"Showgirls may have been going for that, but it's unfunny and so mawkish that it never coalesces into anything resembling that."
But Tommy Wiseau doesn't have several really, really good films under his belt. Or any films period. If you are willing to admit several other Verhoeven movies are hilarious ON PURPOSE, why not give him the benefit of the doubt that was his intention with Showgirls? But, yeah, in general you seem like maybe a pompous…
I just saw it last night and just the idea that a movie that ambitious and experimental can get made and play in theaters across the country (even if it's a few hundred, tops) gives me a tiny bit of hope for the human race.
Really crowds?
How did you get so mean? :(
