My father-in-law is a cab driver in SFC and has been for decades. What Uber has done to the industry is unethical and should be illegal. I wish the rest of us average joes could just rename a regulated service and do whatever we want.

There are dozens of non shady car services available in brooklyn. I live a few blocks from the Smith-9th street stop and have never used uber, lift or any of those apps, and I've never needed to. Arecibo, eastern, continental, to name but a few. In other cities I think this is a problem but not in New York.
