I have mixed feelings about this issue. It isn’t like museums are asking for permission to buy the bones of ancient people, either. They’re both forms of grave-robbing, one is just very well-funded.

The fucking entitlement. I mean, I’m an atheist; I don’t think there’s anything left in those bones. But using someone else’s remains, someone you never knew, never sought consent from, to perform your crackpot religious rites is fucking wrong.

You don’t get to own someone’s body, no matter how poor they were in life. That doesn’t seem all that complicated.

What that means is no black person is counting the white person who violated their ancestor as a factor in identifying them self as Biracial. Does that make sense? As Katie’s first cousin, I’m just gonna say that I know why she’s very insistent on her white identity (at least I think I do), and I hope someday she gets to tell that story.
