Because she didn’t say that? She said she was the only one through college, and she is not in college. But I don’t see how anyone is interpreting this closing paragraph as anything other than a reflection on how she has embraced other women:

Not that you’re owed this info but Cecilia regularly hosts girls’ gaming parties in NYC that are welcome to all women in the area who are interested. She is extremely proactive about this issue.

You’re right. Kobayashi is a dad.

let gohan be moe

I mean yes it is offensive but to me that’s a “read the room thing.” I’m on the spectrum and if my roommate said that, I would laugh and have no issue with it.

What would you do without your pretentious bff to drag you to avant garde porn films

This is true. In high school and college, and now with a roommate who has two sorority girl sisters, social media among popular girl groups is a steady stream of telling each other they’re gorgeous, stunning, TOO PRETTY, etc. It’s almost more of a social custom than an actual statement on how pretty you think your

Pretty sure a lot of juniors and seniors in high school were born. It is weird to think about people growing up with no concept of a pre 9-11 world, though. I think because of that and childhoods with limited to no internet access, late 80s/early 90s millennials really are a different breed than even late 90s kids.

Ah that’s before my time. The BoB generation is truly the lost generation.

Once every few years I have an existential crisis sparked by the realization that everyone younger than I am has NO CLUE about BoB and I worry that it’s going to become lost to history...shit.

I actually love that you didn’t recommend the GitS manga...it’s just...not good. Shirow is masturbatory in more ways than one, extremely long winded, and sassy Motoko isn’t enough to save it. Oshii made something beautiful from a pretty messy work. Even the Puppet Master storyline was hella frustrating in the manga.

Interesting to know! Did you think there was any correlation between more done up looking and a certain type of personality or did it just seem random?

Personally I prefer to wear very little makeup on a daily basis so it works for me too. The trouble is just expectations, as usual. It’s just putting undue pressure on people in a different way - instead of the plump lips or dramatic lashes of the mid-2000s, now it’s flawless skin, which isn’t attainable for everyone

I’ve been thinking a lot about the “natural” beauty trend of late and I kind of think that it’s not that beauty has become easier - it’s that the maximalism has shifted from makeup to skincare. It makes sense with the #wellness obsession making perfect skin almost tantamount to moral purity.

Thanks for sharing something so personal, Julianne. As a fellow young adult with a long and complicated history of an eating disorder, it can be hard. People who are in that weird purgatory between critically in your disorder and recovered are sort of the forgotten group.

Hey how about that FF fashion article champ?

Yes, I know what bespoke means.

Maybe he’s setting his sights too big and dreams of a high fashion line, heh. Designs like Paine, the FFXV bois, and Gladio’s sister already look like clothes you could buy in Harajuku (or Hot Topic)!

Being into fashion and being into trends are different matters, and there’s a lot more to fashion than trends. There’s a reason that fashion/fashion history is usually a part of the art section in bookstores. Beyond art, it can be an incredibly meaningful and personal form of self expression and claiming of agency.
