To be fair, Whedon has praised Sutherland's ability as an actor, saying he would watch Sutherland read a phone book. But great ability in one field isn't a valid reason to take a crap in other areas (rewriting dialogue without regards to what it does to the rest of the script, poor treatment of other cast members).
