I’d never judge someone for not having books on display, but I do find that a bookshelf is perhaps the single best conversation piece a room can have (assuming they’ve read most of the books).

So I might not recommend them if you’re trying to sell your house, but to actually live and entertain in, themed rooms are great.

While I agree that writing out Sam was weird and dumb, calling Jonah “just the ship’s cook” feels like a disservice (if technically true).

If you’re an experienced developer, you have better options. And if you’re trying to break in, it’s probably a terrible time. Junior hires are a long term investment, because they take a lot of work to onboard. Studios with a severe immediate labor shortage don’t go for juniors.

I think pretty much the only people who use dental dams are engaging in what would otherwise be extremely high risk sexual activities (orgies and the like). For most people, the risk of STD transmission through oral sex on a woman really isn’t high enough to worry about.

While Squid Game is, at its heart, a criticism of capitalism, the depiction of North Korea in the series is not at all sympathetic.

I suspect the question at this point is just how gigantic of a golden parachute is he going to get.

You know, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume that killing the titans was just meant as a metaphor for political defeat. I’m way more alarmed by the start of the video where they imply that unarmed migrants seeking a better life are an equivalent threat to the titans.

This is perhaps less true than it once was, especially in high cost of living cities, but it’s a decent-ish line of demarcation between middle class and wealthy (even if “six figures” includes a range from modestly wealthy to extremely wealthy).

50k is junior to mid level artist or designer. 100k is a junior to mid level programmer or lead artist or designer (very rough ballpark, I don’t have a great sense of Montreal’s cost of living).

My mom is a minister, so growing up we’d always get a ton of edible gifts to the family. The least appreciated were the various perishable sweets. Don’t get me wrong, we loved the first plate of cookies of the season, but by the six or seventh it was a choice between being guilty about letting them go stale or guilt

For what it’s worth, my mother and her siblings (all in their late sixties) have come to love Don’t Starve Together. They like the social aspect, and while it’s by no means an easy game the core gameplay loop is easily accessible to people without prior gaming experience.

I’d bet that most of that forty million was in the first couple months, and ongoing revenue is much, much less.

That’s legitimately pretty exciting. I’ve largely stopped playing VR games since we’ve gotten a dog for fear of accidentally punting him.

It’s been a while since I played the AoE II campaigns, but my memory is that in most of the early missions you generally get an army provided, and only in the later missions do you build your economy from scratch.

I know plenty of people who’ve gotten back together with an ex. I don’t think I know anyone who got back together with an ex and didn’t think better of it within a few weeks.

There’s nothing wrong with “over abundance”. “Abundance” means having plenty of something. “Over abundance” means having too much of something.

Yeah, most people don’t know what RSVP stands for. Not saying “please” is going to sound impolite, and insisting that saying please is grammatically incorrect makes you sound pedantic and impolite.

Also, using redundancy for emphasis is a common feature of language, if generally something to avoid in formal writing.

Gamers™ mad about a game starring an immigrant from the Mediterranean in Norse lands featuring an immigrant from slightly further south in the Mediterranean.

Yes. It’s a game system, not a module.
