I found the black and white helped set the mood as bleak.  I didn’t notice the poor CGI.

This is roughly correct except for your take on Nosedive.

Why is Metalhead so bad?  To me it’s basically a perfectly executed horror film.

I don’t think it’s ambiguous, I think it’s meant to be subtle because it’s such a delicate topic. I actually think it would be improved if he hadn’t looked at child porn, and had just been a scared kid, really embarrassed about his parents learning about him looking at regular porn.

X2

I never saw the series, the turn was wholly unearned based on the prequels, and the guy spent 3 whole movies setting it up. Ridiculous.

That peace/ceasefire was what Neo negotiated in exchange for eradicating Smith from the Matrix IRC.

I was in denial for a bit and went to bat for the Phantom Menace for a few years. It took AOTC for me to realize what a shit pile the prequels were. ROTS is also terrible and I can’t take people who claim it’s better than ROTJ seriously. Pretty much the only defense for TPM is the light saber duel / Duel of the fates

I remember turning off The Lost World after like 40 minutes out of boredom as a child, never got around to seeing the whole thing and I would watch complete junk all the way through.

Wait Trevor Noah is Craig Kilborn 2.0?  I guess I should watch The Daily Show then.

It focused on cool effects over jokes.  Also I must disagree with the casting.  Mos Def and Zooey Deschanel did not work in their parts.  Rockwell also did a bad job but I can’t really figure out what went wrong there cause that seems like perfect casting even after the fact...

Matrix Revolutions. I have made peace with it over time as decent but flawed, but as someone obsessed with the first and Reloaded it was a massive let down.

I’d guess the reason they are ending it (beyond contractual issues / Alec Berg and Mike Judge have moved on to other projects) is because they have run out of ways to make them fail and want to show exactly that. Once they succeed, the show is over.

Agreed, the tip to tip efficiency thing was probably the greatest dick joke ever written.

I guess that’s like Wolf of Wall Street then.

“Jumped the Shark” with the “new internet” idea.

Entourage was in love with Hollywood, Silicon Valley is a frequently caustic satire. I’m not sure Silicon Valley fans watch it as lifestyle porn.

It’s run out of steam.

...i don’t get the joke

I don’t know, it’s a lazy set up for a show, and it makes it harder to enjoy. I’m glad they abandoned the “revenge against Miles” aspect but the show strikes me as kind of shaky and I think it’s because it was built on a bad foundation (premise).
