I think TPM was for Star Wars what TMP was for Star TrekPlatonic visions of what their respective creators wanted their franchises to be. And just like Lucas, Roddenberry was pilloried by the “true fans” for not slavishly recreating the tone or feel of the original stories. They even have the same initials!

For better AND for worse, TPM is probably the most pure, uncut Lucas out there because no one was telling him no.  I suspect his sequel trilogy would have had similar issues, but it would have been something new and different (again, for better AND for worse).  But it definitely wouldn’t have simply been “more Star

Okay Sean, don’t over promise. Just say we’ve been working on something and show some clips!

Even better, his likeness is used in the game, so his perfect lips return under RoboCop’s visor.”

He’s still pretty vile at heart, but near the end of 2 he at least showed that he’s unwilling to let his son get shanked. I think it would take a lot of work to really redeem him, but it would be interesting if they had him slowly come around to the mindset that since he’s a brain upload in a na’vi body, he’s not bound

I hope Quaritch gets to do a Face turn in Avatar 3 and gets to complete his Vegeta style Character arc.

I still like the original ending best. Those last two episodes are both resourceful (by necessity) and deeply perverse, leaving viewers with a stream-of-consciousness freakout in a genre that demands closure for its elaborate plotting and world-building. The fact that people still get angry after all this time is a

“My only thing was trying to figure out how Mari fits in...”

I loved it (to the point that I took to reddit because I don’t know a lot of people who have seen it, let alone understand Eva in general). I am so happy that after cycles of Shinji and Gendo not getting each other, it took this many loops for them to find happiness and recognize each other as who they are. In a way,

Watched the 4 episode dvds my big brother brought home of the original show as a very wee one.

From previous interviews, Anno says Mari is the only character in EVA that is “not a part of him” and has claimed that Mari represents his IRL wife. In a way, Anno is telling his story, through Shinji, about the impact his wife had in saving him and bringing hope and happiness into his life.

I love this write-up, James!

I thought I would enjoy the film, but it ended up evoking a much more emotional response than I thought it would. The action scenes, especially in the opening, were super intense, even on my home TV screen it felt cinematic.

Actually seeing Shinji accept himself, his faults and his prior actions and use that pain to support the people he cared about rather than beating himself down further was ridiculously touching. The journey from 20 years ago has been a good one.

Man, I was cautiously hoping for but found myself not really ready for how much of a complex emotional reaction I’d have to that ending. And that’s with me avoiding spoilers but kind of expecting that that’s where Anno would go.

Well I, for one, subscribe to OnlyFans for the articles.

I thought Garrus was calibrating the accuracy of the Normandy’s cannons? And I think I recall an overheard conversation between Garrus and Legion where he, somehow, achieves higher than Legion’s predicted theoretical maximum in that regard?  Implying that there was some use to his work throughout the series, or that
