That’s how I was taught, too. You do them in order. So if you have, say: 6 * 2 - 3 + 8 / 4, you would do 6 * 2, then 8 / 4, then 12 - 3, then 9 + 2. You’d get 11. You wouldn’t do 3 + 2 before 12 - 5.
