Yep. I could see how VIII might be very different, and possibly “better” if in a different trilogy, but I honestly think given the setup of VII, VIII absolutely made sense and was also beautifully done. And this approach to Luke could also work well even with a different VII. I think the fans blaming RJ for “ruining”

Or, y’know, Hollywood could expand its embarrassingly basic supply of go-to historic women and retire the Cleopatras, Marie Antoinettes, and Queen Elizabeths (I & II) once and for all

There are no shortage of fascinating, badass women throughout history, from all over the world, but sure, break out the eyeliner and

Nice try, Todd.

RIP my brother. But come on, you can’t deny the experiences of millions based on your personal experiences. “Well they never did anything to ME.” is the most short-sighted, closed-off foolishness.  When people tell you the stove is hot, believe them.

This could only happen because Netflix removed the D&D episode that stopped Neil falling down the dark path.

Jason Bateman: “I won!”

This shit is nuts

To me he is always the professor from Sliders. For some reason that crappy show started airing at just the right time in my childhood for it to stick in my mind.

Clearly he is a powerful necromancer and has become a lich. All we have to do is locate his phylactery before ending his unlife. Otherwise, his body will just reform.

You have 10 seconds to comply.

For some reason this is one of my favorite Seinfeld bits:

It is so interesting to see the same people who denounced the US acting as the World Police are now trying to act like the World Police against China, and most interesting still is that the shit they cite to is the same shit the US government does to its own people.

Honestly, I gave up after the Dreamland season because it just wasn’t Archer anymore. I saw a few episodes here and there and it just wasn’t the same.

Wait, is Dave Chappelle allowed to be friends with people the AV Club isn't friends with?

True, I’m just thinking in terms of when I was Navy and deployed on an aircraft carrier (the Enterprise, oddly enough.)
I met the Skipper once. I met the XO once. If they even knew your name it was most likely because you fucked up hard.
Everything else was handled at a far, far lower level along the chain of command.

Yeah, the first episode of this sucked pretty hard. Loud, frantic, noisy and annoying show’s overriding tone. The dialogue is delivered in such a ridiculously rapid fire fashion, as if to disguise the fact that it’s not actually clever or funny or worth listening to.

“Look at my African-American Lizard/Demon Fighter over there!”

As a brit with mainly second-hand knowledge of the show, I ploughed through about 80 episodes of the original before CBS’s came out, and the fact they were mostly a very snappy ~20 minutes was a big strength. A lot of tv of that era doesn’t hold up at all, and even a couple that I personally like such as the original
