I just assumed he was still playing for Real Madrid after he and his ex-Newcastle team mate orchestrated a stunning comeback win over Arsenal in the Champions League final.

" I did not know what the history is behind that, and it did not feel like the appropriate time to ask, so I threw up in a trash can instead."
Stephen, can you hear me? This is Clem Fandango.
YTU2tM has made sure I will read 'The Edge' as 'Thedge' for the rest of my life.
It's a 'world tour' of 19 dates in the northern hemisphere.
I agree with you there, Sanchez… there are few albums I've ever heard that vary in quality as much as this one.
Amen, I nearly voted for Mana in 2011 but there was no fucking way I was voting for Internet Mana in 2014. Fuck KDC indeed.
I'm confused about the presence of rickshaws… was there a golden age of rickshaws in Christchurch that ended before my student days (early - mid 00s)? I certainly never saw any…
I haven't lived in NZ for a few years but when I left he was on television every ad break advertising a large telecommunications company. I'm sure he got some sweet cash for those Beats by Dre commercials he was in as well.
Yeah, I live in central Melbourne and I think Predestination showed at possibly only one theatre so I can imagine how hard it must be to see small Australian films like this if you don't live near a main centre.
I also saw this at MIFF and agree that it was pretty fantastic! After Boyhood it was my favourite of the festival, with God Help the Girl close behind.

My mum had a weird perm/afro thing (it was 1984)… where would I go?
Ha! We were talking about fan death at my work on Friday, no one believed me that it was a real concern for some people in East Asian countries.
My uncle got heavily into reiki (including long distance reiki) when he was dying of cancer of the lymph nodes. I was about 13 at the time and went to stay with him and found the whole thing incredibly confusing and achingly sad. He also made me a tape with Mercury Rev's 'Deserter's Songs' on one side and…
My (Protestant, Antipodean) mother considers 'bloody' a swear word. She also wouldn't let us rent Resident Evil on the Playstation because of the title.
Thank you Erik Adams for highlighting a song (Thank You for Sending Me an Angel) that isn't just my favourite album opener of all-time but also what I think is the most exciting song ever too. When I was in my early 20s I used to listen to that song to get me in the mood to party and it always tended to work.
I was doing something similar in my early twenties and now I have cut it down to only when I drink. Sadly I tend to still end up smoking a packet or two on a night out but hey, what are you going to do?
I was thinking 'young Alec Guiness', if that helps. When they need a new George Smiley in a decade or too, I hope they come to you.
