So essentially, what you're saying is that you would've called it a 'chaswozzer'?

Yeah, we watched this in PolSci 101: Introduction to Political Science when I was at university in relation to the unit on Singapore. Eventually I tutored for that class and was always kindest to the students with the most references to that episode in their essays.
@avclub-057667becf2d6f53a5cb71f24fdd11b4:disqus oh man that made my day. I didn't need context for that, just thrilled to see a dog so happy!
Ha I've watched more Skins but not what I should have - watched the first two episodes of one of the later seasons, the first involving a girl named Frankie getting bullied at her new school (watching that made me far too uncomfortable, I really struggle with these things) and another episode where a metal guy suffers…
My copy of Bleeding Edge was apparently sent on Friday. I should have it today or tomorrow, hoping to finish it by the weekend. Are you enjoying it thus far?
* A lot of Grand Theft Auto V with my housemates. It’s big, pretty fun, quite concerning. A lot of the little changes are excellent, like being able to place markers on the map for ‘points of interest’ or the checklists and percentage points on missions – I have a semi-obsessive/compulsive desire to get 100% whenever…
Yeah, I love living in Australia but your insanely expensive beer upsets me. I might buy it if they sold it in dozens but if I'm buying beer then six is too few and 24 is too many so I usually don't bother and just drink spirits or your fantastically priced, usually pretty decent wine.
Does Australia not claim Mel Gibson anymore?
My colleagues were laughing at me just this morning for complimenting a co-worker's jersey.
I completely understand the niggle though, because I get the opposite: Kiwi actors in Hollywood films speaking with their natural accents really takes me out of the scene. The Star Wars prequels (well, the first two, haven't seen the third one) were rife with this, with Temuera Morrison (a serial offender) and the wee…
I lived abroad for a few years as an ESL teacher with a lot of other Kiwis and Australians and I eventually lost the ability to tell the difference between the accents unless it was particularly broad either way.
Elizabeth Moss's accent was fine, she slipped occasionally and it was much more of a generic NZ accent than a Central Otago one (no rolled Rs, for one thing) but in general she did a pretty good job of it.
He advertised those batteries in NZ too but I had no idea he used to play AFL.
Yes, for a country famous for their sense of humour, Australians don't have much of an appreciation for jokes at their expense.
I want to make a joke about blue waffles vis a vis Purple People Eater but I also don't want to throw up.
They fell asleep in each other's arms listening to it afterwards. They have seen each other again since. Also, I love it that despite my studious avoidance of gender-specific pronouns that it's immediately obvious to you that my friend is male!
There was a glorious period in my early twenties that being obsessive about music actually helped me take people home but in my late teens it definitely cost me more sexual experiences than it gained, due to situations like yours - though at least you sealed the deal!
My friend recently brought someone home when both were rather drunk and stopped midway through to put on the audiobook of Dune. This has led to the phrase 'the spice must flow' being a constant source of amusement between us.
Who was the liker? They are now the AVC equivalent of the pregnant woman from Children of Men.
