You are absolutely correct about our “justice” system. If only more here in the US would stop burying their heads in the sand and see it for what it is. The privatization of some of our prisons has made it even worse.

The fact that you aren’t American and get tells me that some Americans don’t want to get it.  The documentary 13th on Netflix perfectly describes how the prison system has been and continues to be used against people of color.  

The US wrote in a loophole against slavery by saying that one could be enslaved if they were tried and found guilty and court and then white people immediately looked for ways to arrest, try and convict Black people. That has not changed.

Oh, and you know what this could lead to?!?!? Cops in the Portsmouth area might start thinking twice before pulling their gun our or, even worse, shooting at a suspect who “might” be carrying a weapon!

The United States only recognizes domestic terrorism if it is a large scale crime (see Oklahoma City) or any shooting they can pin on brown people. Anti-Black terrorism does not compute. 

Add another couple of bodies to that pie chart that shows that something like 80% of all domestic terrorism incident are perpetrated by white men. I know then is America, and the facts don’t matter anymore, but, my God, when is someone going to rein these dangerous thugs in?

If the motive turns out to be what it seems, this really would be better described as domestic terrorism than a shooting. If the US had a rational legal structure on domestic terrorism, at least. Political/ideological motivation, soft target, potential ties to extremist ideology.

The police/authorities whatever say that to cover their asses. This quick after it happening I don’t blame them because they may not have all his records, have searched his home, etc. It’s reflexive bureaucratic action. 

The motives for the shooting remain unclear and it is unknown whether or not Bush knew either of his victims before shooting them.
