Better question: How does a nurse not know that you ice inflammation, not heat it?

I also like that the lawyer representing her specializes in legal malpractice and burn injuries only.

HIPAA violation probably goes toward showing the invasion of her privacy/infliction of emotional distress/whatever her claim leading to damages is, akin to a statutory violation as negligence per se argument.

Things that are especially fascinating about this case:

"Though I make it a point is stay away from major generalizations about gender, I truly believe that the biggest major difference between men and women is the way society teaches them to feel about and promote (or downplay) their talents and intelligence."

Cats think you are a bigger, worryingly non-hunting cat. Dogs do not think you are another dog.

He used to train at the same ice rink as me! Although I was clearly not Olympic caliber.

I think we're all in agreement on that point. It seems like the disagreement is over whether it is okay to reference the very thing you are calling out as not okay in your critique. I'm of the opinion that it depends, but that it this case the author clearly felt that in order to properly introduce the critique it

He literally asked for it!

Five league championships (1937, 1942, 1982, 1987, 1991)
Five conference championships (1972, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1991)
Thirteen division championships (1936*, 1937, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1945, 1972, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1991, 1999, 2012)
Twenty-three total playoff appearances in franchise history.

You called out the headline. If your issue was with pure appearance count you should have said that in the first place. And in fact, I would expect an article about media treatment of transitioning stemming from treatment of Bruce Jenner as a particularly salient current example to mention his name repeatedly.

Except this article didn't discuss or dissect Bruce Jenner's gender identity except to mention that tabloids having been doing that. Sure, the headline could have been written without his name, but naming the thing that prompted a discussion of how transitioning is covered and discussed in the media doesn't fall into

I hate to feed into this clearly unproductive discussion... but.

Except a lot of same-sex schools are still same-sex, and HBCUs (I'm nearly positive) admit people of all races.

Of course! Sometimes this stuff just seems so overwhelming - I felt the same way when I applied to law school. I did a lot of needless comparisons to my friends and made myself ridiculously stressed out, which didn't help things.

Also - if you aren't confident in your grades, don't go straight to grad school. Take a couple years and work a low-level job in your field. Showing you're actually in practice good at the thing you want to be doing can be more important than being a person who is good at school.

Is this class even for the subject you want to go to grad school for?

I'm pretty sure the city mulches them and uses the mulch in parks and gardens. I know that there are specific Christmas tree pick-up days when DSNY collects them off the curb.

Are all of these tree lots associated with bodegas or other stores? Most of the ones in my neighborhood don't seem to have that kind of affiliation and are just hanging out on street corners. There's one outside my diner (who isn't selling them), one on the corner by the school playground, one that runs down the

I strongly recommend also reading Barry Lopez's memoir essay from the January 2013 issue of Harper's on his own coming to terms. The situation is different, but his reflection brings up some of the same issue of complexity in victim narratives.
