The E34 is a vehicle of unmatched class. Although I also considered adding angel eyes on mine, i think I am just as happy with polishing the subtle chrome rings around each light. The projector lens on the low beams also produces a subtle ring. Having AA's would help match for the family portrait. Here is an old shot…

That does looks like the N47 diesel engine out of the 2007 320xd, on which AWD was an option. Although I don't like the shaft wrap theory, I suppose it would be possible based on year and option.
it is hard to tell from the video but it doesn't appear a soft field takeoff is attempted
