This is coherent and well reasoned and I appreciate it.

Sing it with me now.

I have been pregnant twice and hardly ever used those spots — the exception being when it was icy out (in Alaska, so fairly often) and I was in danger of falling, which is especially bad for preggos. Otherwise I parked wherever and walked because it's true that pregnancy is not a disability, or at least it was not for

I have kids. I do not judge you for not having kids.

Ditto. These comments are horrendous. I was expecting women to be supportive of each other and back each other up, and not use this article to COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PREGGOS AT WORK. I know that Jezebel's readership skews single and young, but seriously, do they have no empathy at all?

Oh, this. This. I hate when people are like, "Oh, but can't childless people go have a sabbatical too? That's only fair!" No. No it's not. If you want to make it fair, then you can have your sabbatical, but you have to wake up every 2-3 hours to feed a tiny poop machine, while also possibly taking care of older

Yes it is. Because it comes down to a very simple question: do you want a world with people, or without? There's no way to make populations happen without reproduction.

Word to your mother.

Seconded. Thirded by my imaginary friend. I'm tired of the crap science writing on this site. I blame it on the constant churn and the struggle to generate content ALL THE TIME. I don't even blame the writers. I blame the Gawker culture and us, as readers, who expect 20+ new, insightful, interesting posts per day.

It is a defense in some jurisdictions.

Whoa whoa whoa. You have framed this case ridiculously.

Actually I think that's condescending bullshit. "Oh, half babies are so cute!" Bleh. An attempt to sound tolerant and cosmopolitan without actually being so.

You. Are. An. Idiot.

Yes. Yes yes and yep. They are worthless artifacts of a racist, sexist, privileged past (and present). They are the cool kid table in the cafeteria writ large and monied. They exclude the less attractive, the brown, the slightly weird.* We don't need them. 18 year olds don't need them. They are actively making our

Right, but we weren't talking specifically about this program with that comment. The original commenter said "teaching men not to rape is the only way to prevent rape". And I and others were saying, "nope, it's not. We should also teach people to defend themselves." Most of this program frankly sounds pretty

Exactly. It's on people (men and women) not to rape. Of course.

False dichotomy. Both things are good. Teach women to be physically empowered and that fighting back against physical aggression can be useful. Teach boys and men 1) what rape is and 2) not to do it.

I love this gif forever.

Sounds legit to me.

Good on your wife for sticking to her goal. I find that weight loss is all about being OCD and incredibly detail oriented. About everything. It's exhausting. But it's the only thing that works for me. And, apparently, her.
