Heh. Seriously though...it’s just mean to put them in someone’s workplace :[

I mean, it is sort of depressing, but it’s also very surreal so I don’t find it too depressing, but YMMV

Wuthering Heights is my favorite, but I know many readers have mixed feelings on it. Have you read any Shirley Jackson? Maybe she’s a bit new to be a “classic,” but I love her. Especially “We Have Always Lived in the Castle.”

Ooh, I’ll definitely give Rashida Jones’ show a try. Sounds unique. Mysterious fortune teller? Yes please.

*shuddering*

Ugh, hissing cockroaches are huge. Luckily they are much more stationary than regular cockroaches (I wouldn’t want to see one of those scuttle around, ugh). The daycare I was working in over the summer had some hissing cockroaches donated to them that had belonged to a class during the school year. I did not like

That sucks. Here in SoCal the high is in the 70s next week and even though it’s cloudy today, it’s still about 60.

Weirdly, I feel like teen celebs seem more well-adjusted and do better later in life if their parents are also celebrities, compared to when their parents are not famous (and are likely stage moms/dads)

lol, it’s James Madison though (sorry!)

You mean Ben Carson?

Many of these things are covered in school, but that’s no guarantee that the information will stick with the students. Most states have civics requirements for secondary schools & public universities.

I wasn’t exactly surprised, but the conservative blogs really pissed me off on this one. Obviously there are a ton of misinformed people in this country (and let’s be honest - that’s by design) but you really can’t see the difference between wanting to KILL people or wanting to HELP them? Ugh.

The survey seems to indicate that colleges might be lowering their standards or are now doing a poorer job of educating students.

Yeah, so the disturbing thing about thing about that poll wasn’t that so many Republicans thought Agrabah was a real place, but that they wanted to just bomb some country that they had obviously never heard of before.

In most states students are required to take some sort of civics class in high school (and it’s usually required at public universities as well). That doesn’t mean the kids actually retain what they’re supposed to be learning...

Hey, your grandma has good advice.

Sad :( I've seen this used as a plot on tv shows & books a lot before too. Sad that it actually happens!

A number of people in my town have chickens in their yards. We're pretty suburban though, so it's a little weird. And even though people aren't supposed to have roosters, one asshole in my neighborhood seems to always have one around :/ So fucking annoying. The hens are pretty quiet though!

Did you read the article? The baby was on formula for months, but was getting a reaction because of a dairy allergy. The alternative they chose wasn't great, obviously, but these weren't anti-formula people. They were also getting advice from their doctor, so I'm wondering what's wrong with the doctor here.

Did you even read the article? In this case the baby was allergic to formula containing cow’s milk and that's why he was switched to almond milk. Obviously that was a bad choice ( there are dairy-free formulas out there) but this wasn't because of veganism.
