A cop not taking domestic violence seriously? I'm stunned. Next thing you'll tell me is that male cops commit acts of DV at a significantly higher rate than the population as a whole.

How much energy goes into perpetrating the myth of the hero, brave officer that puts their life on the line for our safety? That propaganda machine has to be the major expenditure of the police union.

Got into a yelling match with my mother (OF ALL people) last night when she said something about asylum seekers breaking the law by coming here and I would NOT hear the bullshit again - both barrels she got. This is a woman who raised a couple of activists and was one herself.

Of course people should be helping. I am. I think a lot of people who speak up here are. You need some outrage though. Otherwise you start normalizing it even if you’re trying to help.

Every one should feel moral outrage at what is happening in those camps. That is the only valid response if you have even a shred of human decency and compassion. The concentration camps should not exist - and these detention centers are concentration camps. These people should at the very least be given humane…
