As a teen I had painted a band logo on my leather jacket, which was a devil face. One of the Watchtower crowd came over and asked if I loved Satan. To which I responded, “No, but I’ve fucked his daughter.” The guy just stood there unable to formulate a response, while my friends fell about laughing.

Oh, yes, people can just “leave” detention centers at “any time”. I’m sure that’s a thing that’s allowed to happen.

He also wanted to impeach Obama for no reason other than to “tie things up” and prevent Obama from “pushing his agenda.”

“I don’t know if it’s hyperbole,” but that “the hatred for this president is so intense, that people are liable to say anything.”

I didn’t call you a neo-nazi, nor a sympathizer, and I don’t think you’re remotely close to one. I know your stance on things well enough. I think you’re a good person who pooped out a Bad Take- it happens to all of us!- and is currently digging in her heels in its defense because you feel ganged up on.

That is truly awful, but those stories made the necessary impression as to the horrors she and her family faced, as did many, many others. “Never again” is meaningless if we forget what happened and why. As others have stated, these atrocities were not unique to just the Jews, but I hope they become the last to have

I was actually in a twitter fight with one of them who didn’t like the use of “concentration camps” and, as a Jew, was like, “I’m sure you’d rat me out to the SS if we were in Nazi Germany.’

Because history education is such in this country that everyone believes that one day, they were just escorting Jews to the gas chambers, not starting with less bad but still horrible things and escalating.

Including the rhetoric that matches the Nazi rhetoric that went with their camps.

And that you see six million Jews as a rhetorical tool rather than humans or victims.

So, if more than one innocent child dies in a government detainment camp, do I not get to call it a death camp?

Politicalorphans.com is a pretty decent place created by a former GOP supporter.

AOC: There is a big problem at the border where there are concentration camps

The Huffington Post today has an article referencing a Utah editorial that points out that yes thee are concentration camps, and why they should concern us all. Including the rhetoric that matches the Nazi rhetoric that went with their camps.

One thing I’m just now realizing - especially seeing AOC’s tweet - the only person who ever made the comparison to the Holocaust was Liz Cheney and the right wing.

This. Acting like the Holocaust is this unique Thing that can never be compared to Any Other Thing undercuts the entire philosophy behind “Never Again.”

Your last couple of sentences are dead on. If you can’t compare things to the holocaust, it’s not possible to learn anything from it. And if there’s no lessons to be learned from it, what's the point of memorializing?

Yes. She didn’t say “The U.S. is operating extermination camps.” She didn’t say “The U.S. is conducting genocide” or “ethnic cleansing.” She didn’t even say “What the U.S. is doing is a precursor to genocide,” which would have been provocative and deliberately controversial, but arguably justifiable. Hers was a
