My cousin worked at a top job like this under Obama, and already barely got to see his family. Not only are there emergencies that could be a problem (although, I’m sure there will be a system for that someone figures out), this is literally going to be just another thing that makes it harder for anyone with a family

This is Now and Then all over again! None of us are the Tiffany. We’re still all the Chrissy.

Touché

I was actually thinking about this a few days ago, too!

My biggest takeaway here is how infuriating it is a Rick Perry/Trump supporter would even own work by Andy Warhol to begin with. If you don’t support the rights of gay citizens, you shouldn’t be able to benefit from their work. If only this could be enforced in any way it would be a surefire way to make people

Thanks for the info. That is a lot of money, more than I expected. I have friend who have used donor eggs and sperms, but I don’t know anyone who did egg adoption, so I didn’t realize. I wish you the best of luck building your family!

I’m really sorry. That’s so hard. I wish you the best of luck moving forward. Mine are only two years old, so they are probably using the newer technique, but with how quickly the science changes, we could end up facing similar challenges. It’s all such a gamble, and I would feel the same way.

Right. Some people really think being pregnant, answering strangers’ questions about your pregnancy, giving birth and giving a child to someone else actually is simple. It’s not, and the women who decide that is the right option are really strong and brave.

I think if you’re saying we lower adoption cost on private adoptions, then that would get more people interested, but I don’t think it would solve the problems of older children in the system. Because those are already inexpensive adoptions. It is very daunting to worry that you will adopt an older child who often has

In the US it depends how you are adopting. When expense is the issue it is for private adoptions, which don’t have a foster-to-adopt aspect and are often the way people adopt babies. Foster-to-adopt is much less expensive and through the government, but it is more often for older children, although there are some

It’s not a mere suggestion for people dealing with infertility though. It’s what we hear constantly, often from the same family members who asked why we hadn’t had kids at every family gathering. And I can guarantee you that anyone who took the time to research, pay for and go through infertility treatment also looked

Yes to everything you said!

I don’t know that all of these embryos have been genetically screened. I don’t think they could do that 24 years ago. You certainly could pay to do the testing, but if a couple hasn’t yet, I’d think an anti-choice organization like this would not have done it.

Plenty of people are judging. The first post showing up on here calls people who use IVF egomaniac. I understand maybe you aren’t, though, so sorry if my response was too strong.

That’s fair! Thanks for pointing it out. I had read a different article about this, so I didn’t click through to the one linked.

You think that couples who can get pregnant naturally are regularly asked why they don’t “just adopt” when they are trying to get pregnant or announce a pregnancy?

Well, good luck! In Illinois, Planned Parenthood partners with an adoption agency that seems to be secular, so if you go that route it is something to look into.

IT’S DEFINITELY SCIENCE! Depending on your religion you could think science was a gift from God, but don’t steal all the credit from your embryologists, Tina!

Does your clinic facilitate at all?

Yeah it is. And less expensive for people paying out of pocket, but I think there are often costs associated with adopting the embryo itself.
