I bet you’re fun at parties.
I bet you’re fun at parties.
He really needs another role like Hannibal to sink his teeth into.
I also find both of those films highly overrated, so.
True, but Dr. Strange in particular did a bad job of trusting its audience to understand the information it was conveying visually; it had a bad habit of over-explaining things in dialogue that didn’t need to be explained. It’s magic; let it be a little weird.
But the movie continually undercut it with weak dialogue-driven explanations, a weaker storyline, and some of the weakest characterization work in the MCU. You can’t just have cool visual design; you have to tell a good story too.
True, but part of having a visual art form is trusting the visuals to stand on their own when necessary. I’m never going to forgive that movie for spending the first 15 minutes showing Strange wearing fancy suits, having a whole collection of watches, using the flashiest tech, driving the most compensatory of mid-life…
Oh, agreed. The visuals were a great introduction to the MCU version of magic, appended to a relatively weak storyline and shaky dialogue.
Dr. Strange was an incredibly mediocre movie with fantastic visual design on the Mirror World/ Dark World sequences. Take away the visuals, and the whole thing falls apart.
Hey Kelly - Most of these are solid suggestions that pull from the Catholic Church as a historical and cultural force rather than Catholicism as a religion, but could you please take out the one about the rosary? Or if you’re not prepared to do that, could you at least include a line reminding people that wearing a…
Yup. I’m ready for a metric fuckton of appropriative bullshit.
Well, this is going to be some appropriative bullshit.
The false reporting rate for rape is about the same as it is for other felonies - roughly 2% to 8% - but you don’t see the same kind of “allegedly” language thrown about when someone says their TV got jacked.
Seriously. That was a fantastic, dramatic, nail-biter of a game, and I loved every over-the-top reaction from either team. It’s the freaking World Series! It’s exciting! Let the players be excited!
This is an idea as good as when its predecessor Rejection Hotline came out, back in 2002. The ability to respond to texts is good, though!
Because we train women to avoid sexual assault, rather than training people not to sexually assault. Women are told, directly and indirectly, and often from the best of intentions, that we should take all reasonable precautions to protect ourselves. The problem is that most of the precautions aren’t that reasonable,…
What A. Square said. Also, the fact that Brexit passed, largely thanks to nationalist sentiments among Britons, indicates that tensions in Europe still exist.
It’s not bad writing to imagine a future where a non-Western culture has become predominant; it’s bad writing to imagine a future where a generic pan-Asian mashed-up culture serves as an “exotic” background for the same white characters you would have written about anyway. If you’re going to have Chinese, Korean, and…
This is great advice for people whose jobs create a discrete, shareable work product, but how do you build a portfolio when nearly everything you do is either confidential or company-specific? I’m an analyst. My work isn’t shareable. I can (and, in the past, have) produced anonymized versions to put in a portfolio,…
King never met an ending he couldn’t flub. It’s a testament to how good everything else about his writing is that we forgive him for his endings.
Your insurance covers MRIs???? What provider do you have? I have Aetna, and it’s like pulling teeth every year to get them to cover just the mammogram and ultrasound.
