The difference between those deals and this one is that in those trades, the Knicks gave up things of greater value than Robin Lopez (and were stuck with the contract for more than a year).

To everyone complaining about this being Lebron’s “secret motivation”—have you not met people? Especially athletes? How many athletes talk about bulletin board fodder or say that no one believed in them or claim they wanted to prove the haters wrong? Athletes everywhere constantly use small things to motivate…
Stockholm Syndrome?
I also rooted real hard for the Bulls during the MJ years despite my Knicks fandom—so maybe that counts (I was young, didn’t know better and enjoyed watching Jordan play). But that felt substantively different from by adult years rooting for teams that weren’t my own.
That series is definitely way up there for me. Maybe not my number one, but still, I was rooting hard for the Mavs. It was a glorious series.
I’m a Mets/Jets fan, so I have no idea I actually can choose either of the two popular choices. Both the 2004 ALCS and Super Bowl 42 would BY FAR be my two answers to this question (with them teetering back and forth every day for which one I’d choose if I had to pick only one), but the Yankees and the Patriots are…
I think he's referring to Varys' meeting with Kevan, Grand Maester Pycelle and the little birds.
I can only imagine this is being featured in the links on the side/top of Deadspin’s home page again because it’s time to add “Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer” truthers to this list.
Sure, but that was two Madison Square Gardens ago. That one was old enough that it actually stood in Madison Square.
Pretty sure Gammons’ tweet should be on a best tweet list, not worst.
I think he means congress, not civil servants. Most civil servants are dedicated and do the best with what they have. Republican congresspeople claim government is broken, slash the budget for government services and then, when those services fail due to underfunding, hold them up as examples of how government is…
That was game 7. The car chase was during game 5. Game 5 Starks went 7-14 to put up a 19-7-6 line with 3 steals to help the Knicks take a 3 games to 2 lead.
Yep. Definitely just a regular extra.
“The same person occupying two positions? It’s been done.”
No joke, a goose once bit my girlfriend. We were at the Arcadia Arboretum in SoCal (which has all sorts of birds and beautiful trees and plants) with my seven year old nephew, and a goose saw him and started making a beeline for him as we walked. She put herself between it and him, and got bitten on the leg for her…

Honestly until I started writing that post I had no idea Starks had as good a game 6 as he did. I remembered him as being terrible in that game. I guess memory mixed his shot getting blocked in game 6 with his atrocious game 7. This is the problem with writing about things from when you were 12.
Nice.
Came here for this. Thanks.
The Arya storyline ain't great in AFfC and ADwD, but it's a million times worse here. At least in the books it's a way to examine grief, anger and letting go. In the show it's about nothing.
