I’m not sure why you’re comparing Elden Ring specifically to Dark Souls 2. It’s basically a Greatest Hits collection of every Soulsborne games mechanics that From has ever made. Hell, even the Starscourge Radahn boss fight felt like an Armored Core level on horsebacks.

I like the episodes where they tackle social issues or paying homage to genre tropes like crime noir etc. but the supernatural and religious parts of the show always feel heavy handed or awkwardly written to me.

I dunno. Some textures and animations may be reusable but both franchises have vastly different game design despite sharing some familiar gameplay mechanics. Levels will still need to be recreated from scratch.

I wonder if the delay and studio change was mostly done to rethink and overhaul the whole art direction or are there just technical issues that the Indian based developers couldn’t quite handle?

Imagine an open world Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain reboot. Sort of like The Witcher and Elden Ring.
Soul Reaver 2 actually still play very well on modern machines and even support HD resolution, but controller support isn’t that great.

The New Jersey levels actually feel more like classic Max Payne but it was like in the middle of the game. Would have been nice if it was put as a prologue at the beginning or as a separate scenario from the main game.
