What? There are tons of slave narratives out there, tons of excellent historical documentaries, books, television shows, and other media that sensitively and reasonably depict the conditions and the atrocities committed. People aren’t offended by the act of depiction, they’re offended by how its depicted.

Speaking as a black man (and for myself, obviously), I completely and immediately understood the point he claimed they were trying to get across by comparing the packing of slave ships to Tetris from just the Twitter screenshot for the article.

Slave Tetris is bad because the mechanics do not make sense. But if they had tackled this like an Oregon Trail type of game, it would be contextually relevant to the slave trade, would not have been tasteless, and would have really given a face to the hard numbers that people recognize, but lack a true understanding

I mean, if you are dead set on creating a slave trading game, at least make it realistic and appropriately dark.

+1 for the joke, but I assume since this is taking place in 2002, the game in question would be GTA 3 and maybe Vice City :)

If Bill doesn’t say, “Game over man! GAME OVER!”, I will be very disappointed...

This is an utterly brilliant history joke with so many layers. And starvation.

God, I wish this was a secret sponsored post.

Must’ve been the wind..

I don’t see anything here? Just a bunch of people celebrating? Where are the bride and groom?

How am I supposed to play Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider at the same time game developers?! How!?

I’m going to be that person who points out that 1816 was the Regency period.

I loved the narrative of Flappy Bird too!

i don’t think you played FO3.

...happy Vulcan.

It was quite clearly stated that Buzz was not flying at the end of the first movie, he was falling with style.
