@Dirtypas: They already did tests with the data speed as well. When the phone is held, the download speed drops to 60 kb/s.

@Clayton Wakida: Well, yes, but this is one of those cases where it's impossible to ignore the truth.

Glad to see everything isn't peachy and rosy with this new iPhone.

@casmith07: Waaah Gizmodo is telling the truth about the horribly designed new iPhone they're HATERS.

@crystalpepsi: What do you mean UGLY?! It would make the iPhone 4 look like the lower rubbery part of those bumper cars! Who wouldn't want that?!

@Andy Mesa: Well, Apple designed this phone to be seen naked. There's no other reason they would have made it glass on the back as well.

@iphone_myphone: Because most good phone manufacturers design their fucking phones to be seen without a case! It's Apple's fault for this stupid design. APPLE'S. Not the consumer. THEY were stupid for making a phone out of glass on the front and back while trying to claim it was durable. Should people ALSO buy a

@m0m0: From what I've heard, the glass used on the iPhone 4 is chemically strengthened Gorilla Glass.

@Mattizzle: Apple thought people would buy their bumpers, of course! They're APPLE products!

@GitEmDoneSteveDave: Well, considering this new iPhone has that little reception issue with the metal band, the improved reception through the glass is kind of nullified as a benefit.

@modestmouse: Well, there are two likely reasons. The first is that accidents happen. That's why all the cases and insurance exists.

@Nitesh Singh: Seriously? Wow, what some people will pay for fashion.

@kylecpcs: Aesthetics. Apple wanted a bold new device that completely stood out from the previous generations. That way you could tell an iPhone 3GS from an iPhone 4. I guess they also wanted to make the slimmest and sexiest cell phone ever.

@YummyCyanide: You bring up a good point. Is Apple going to stick with this ridiculous all-glass route, or go with another style? And if it's the latter, are they going to cover their fuck-up by saying 'well, THIS design is WAY more functional and svelte' rather than coming out with it?

@armendni: The same company that tries to make their products as sexy as possible regardless of the functional consequences?

@Nitesh Singh: I dunno, man. Ripped jeans are only a few dozen dollars. This iPhone is $700.

@KamWrex: Would you mind telling me the exact name of that article? it sounds like a great read.

@Nitesh Singh: I think he's referring to Ryan's exact situation. It looks like the two sentences in his comment are entirely unrelated.

@YummyCyanide: Not to mention the rest of the public. When iPhone 4 owners see more stories like this popping up, they'll never let anybody else touch their device for fear of dropping it.

@Kamalot: You know, when it first came out, I thought it was the best of both worlds. This is coming from somebody who owns an Evo. This iPhone managed to out-style those ridiculously expensive designer phones while remaining a million times more functional.
