Yeah I have no problem with Stenberg in all of this. This Lena Wilson person seems very melodramatic and attention-seeking...I don’t want that kinda shit out of a film critic, I’ll be sure to avoid Wilson’s film reviews now.
It’s such a smarmy thing to say but totally consistent with the recent trend of co-opting the jargon of self-help and pop sociology to bolster your own position.
Lesbian or not, it’s clear the author of the review is using her white womanhood to try and become the victim when messaged by a black actress she wrote a review on.
I audibly guffawed at that line from her. She sounds like a clown.
Yeah, I reread that bit trying to figure out what I was missing that makes sense of that. It doesn’t matter how much ‘social power’ someone has if they DM you, because it’s not public unless you make it so. If Billie Eilish slid into my DMs to call me an asshole, I’d be alarmed and confused, but it wouldn’t have the…
“I’m posting it because I don’t want this person who has more social power than me to think that it’s fucking okay to do something like this.”
So the reviewer makes a reductive comment about how the movie is just an advertisement for cleavage, a star from that movie sends a private message joking that if the reviewer had paid more attention to the film than the cleavage, maybe she would have gotten more out of it, and somehow the reviewer is a victim?
“While it’s nice that Lizzo recognized the harm the word held and immediately changed it, it would be even better if more people worked to understand the ongoing challenges of people with disabilities. There’s more to being an ally than just adding a ramp and a special parking space.”
Geico isn’t liable, M. B. is, and since his car is covered through Geico, they need to pay all damages as covered through their policy.
“Rridiculous” things do happen, but our default reaction should always be to assume we don’t have the full set of information until we are sure we do. And even then, it takes time after the ridiculous sounding thing has actually happened for all the information, context, and details to come to light to make any…
This is the stupidest thing I’ve read all month, but what do you expect of legal analysis from Jalopnik?
They probably won’t be. This case has nothing to do with insurance coverage, just whether GEICO could contest the amount of damages after it denied coverage and refused to defend. That’s the right result when an insurer leaves their insured to fend for themselves.
That’s the nature of the times though. It’s going to continue for another year or so, and people need to get over that. Every platform is suffering from delays due to the pandemic (and developers quitting after getting sick of being abused) and everybody is blaming the industry for not throwing enough entertainment…
Right, there’s a huge difference in “there’s nothing on Gamepass/Netflix” to “There’s nothing that I want to play/watch on Gamepass/Netflix”.
It’s like people who complain there’s nothing on Netflix because nothing in the new releases catches their eye.
This is in response to the AAA drought more than anything. There are still lots of games being added to the service, but if all you’re there for is AAA first party titles, yes this is going to seem like a not great deal right now.
Eh, I think it’s a little dramatic calling this the drought. This time of year was pretty crappy on Gamepass last year too. There’s still a large library for people to pick through (just look at the slideshow from last month that’s linked in the article). If you’ve managed to make it through them all, either your job…
Anyone who isn’t finding value in the gamepass is bonkers-crazy-pants or has already spent their money on every game to come out each month. As someone on a tight budget, there is at least one game announced each month that pays for the whole subscription. I can understand un-subbing because you just don’t have the…
Wow. Turned out...fair? Im suprised.
