Not a bad list. Glad to see “Let It Go” so high. You know it’s an iconic song when every popular song after it ushers a “i like this more than _____” in the youtube comments section.
No “Feed the Birds” or “Oo-De-Lally”? I agree with the #1 but way too many recent songs on this list.
Any FCA product. Both Dodge vehicles I owned were crap....and I love the idea of many of their cars. But no way in hell would I make that mistake again.
And Jeep. Holy hell do I want a Jeep. Almost pulled the trigger last year, against my better judgement, until a buddy (who has owned jeeps since the late 80s) said “I…
One general issue is that when a car is *really* mass produced, the company is motivated to make it cheaply and reliably — like the Toyota Corolla, which probably sells >1M per year globally. These cars have to be engineered and tested so they don’t become a huge problem for the manufacturer a couple years down the…
My car! 2021 Audi A4. It’s only been back to the dealership like 37 times!!
At this point they should just tell people still trying to get a ps5 to just build a pc.
All I want from Sony is Dolby Vision and Atmos.
It’s a Paper Tiger country.
A society where everything is automated but you still have to go to work and only have 3 days off a year is not idyllic.
Skycamp “1.0" owner checking in. It’s a tough purchase to justify, but once you’ve camped roof top, sleeping on the ground loses a lot of appeal.
Don’t try to level the campsite, just level the mattress! We tent camp (when car camping) with an 8" air mattress - all you need is a sweatshirt balled up under the low corner and you don’t even notice the tent being off-kilter.
The big advantage is the bed...Most rooftop tents have an awesome mattress built in and most can be closed with the bedding in place.
They’re very popular in Australia because of all of the nasty things that crawl around on the ground down there, but for places here like Colorado, I agree with you. Tent works fine.
you can set up and be comfortable regardless of the ground type, rocky, wet, hardpacked, uneven, etc. Also, it’s quick to set up/breakdown and you don’t have to unload/load up gear in the back of the vehicle, freeing up space for other things.
I have a Skycamp 2 as well - completely agree with everything you stated. Expensive? Yes. Awesome? Depends.
I’m an avid camper and I just legit fucking hate setting up/tearing down my tent. I got a RTT because it’s just so damn simple and it’s fun for the kids to keep them engaged. The protection from a wet tent bottom and a pretty damn comfy bed (without the need to pack a cot or thick air mattress) are obvious benefits as…
Hey that’s a very solid analysis. Looking closer, RTTs do seem to have some distinct advantages that might be deal-makers if you’re the right person with the right priorities (and money).
A woman I know said she felt that the rooftop tent kept her more safe from predators, of both the 4 legged and 2 legged kind.
I could see this being an advantage if you are on a rocky trail with no truly flat spots to pitch a tent. But, I’d rather buy a pop up with no floor and set my camping cot down on the most stable ground possible to save a few grand.
