If he lives in the city, lose the car, get a T pass, and rent a car or bum a ride when you need one. Zip car can be your best friend. I had several friends who Street parked in Boston sell their cars after their first winter. It's not worth it.

Agree. If he lives in the city buy something already beaten, something you won’t care about, something easy to park.
I’m not sure what he’s complaining about here.
Boom. Boston proper has shitty parking situations. And no one gives a shit.
This is precisely how I feel... What really sucks is that I thought I was biding my time till my income could afford me an upgrade, but the cost of the upgrade has been steadily out-pacing me for the last few years.
It’s not turbo lag, that doesn’t even really exist anymore. Ford programs its truck transmissions very, very far in the direction of fuel economy, which makes them very excited about shifting up, and very reluctant to shift down. You can correct this simply by putting the transmission in sport, pushing the tow button,…
All I can say is.... Get ready for some SHITTY weather. I lived in Boston for several years and the winters can be brutal. Just absolutely brutal with the wind blowing off the sea it sometimes gets to well below zero and can stay that way for days at a time. I got so fucking sick of the snow too which would look nice…
As a former LM engineer, I’m sorry for your former company. It was a mess.
My first engineering gig out of college was with Local Motors. Worked there a good while then was laid off in April of 2019 due to COVID along with almost half of the staff. I think, realistically, that was the final nail in the coffin for them and it’s been a slow death since.
I’m thankful for my time there and…
I am at work, so I am not going to make the “Road is Road” Incredibles meme, but I do think that it would best represent your insurance company.
Almost 60 years ago, I met a man whose last name was Nitschke. He had a formula for figuring out when to buy a new car, based on a unit that he modestly called a “Nitschke.” The Nitschke was equal to one month’s payment on the loan he would have to take out in order to buy a new car. When his repair costs averaged…
I dont know if youre trolling or sincere. Either way nice one
My cousin's husband died in a car accident in India visiting his family. Very sad.
I rented a Duster in France a few years ago and took it off-road and it was terrific. I fell in love with that car.
I so wanted to rent one of these for out Iceland adventure but we ended up with a diesel kia sportage with studded tires. We covered that thing in dirt and by the end of the week had repaired the front air dam we kinda tore off.
Do you not clean under your fenders when you wash your car?
The car is trying to act as human as possible to blend in with other drivers. Being predictable is safer than following the rules.
For cyclists, it’s counter-productive and less safe to try to respect the letter of the law at all times. Case in point: rolling through a stop without putting a foot down allows them to clear the intersection/danger quicker overall, and while I’m hugely on the fence and careful about rolling reds, when I do it it…
If often absolutely is, especially in Philly, NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.
In Oregon these are called Idaho stops or California stops and there was legislation about 20 years ago to allow bicyclists to do this (not cars) in order to allow them to save momentum and it didn’t pass. It was only in 2020 that bicyclists (not cars) were finally allowed to do this without fear of ticketing. So good…
