You can own an automatic weapon, but it takes a decent chunk of change, some serious paperwork and some patience.

For the most part, police departments get these for free when the DoD is done with them.
My first thought would be getting it to Buffalo. They could have moved it by boat and gotten a chance to drive it in deep snow.
Good call, I bet the DAGOR was their entry into this procurement process.
The army uses those as well. My guess is the advantage is range, towing capacity and the ability to equip a grenade launched on the back.
That thing looks fantastic and highly functional. The real question though, is whether it can actually outperform a Land Cruiser 70 series.
Cool car and amazing story. Thanks for sharing!
I want to buy the movie rights to this story.
My guess would be that we’re talking ads during sporting events rather than ads at races. Football in particular is a great for ad placement since people don’t use their TiVos.
I was thinking the same thing. Having the branch fail before he started work saved this dude from getting cut in half.
When I worked with lineman, they would always talk about how much they wanted this. Half of a 100-500kv line crews job is doing an annual vegetation patrol. Having a rig that could handle bad right of way and have room for 2 chainsaws, climbing gear, gas, tools and basic spare parts. Instead the company bought them…
It’s a nice thing to have for building fences, cabins and sheds. I’ve only ever done it to build something quick, cheap and ugly.

Charging infrastructure is getting pretty consistent on the coasts and in the mountain west. I know that isn’t everyone, but it’s enough of the population to make an EV pickup viable. If I had to stop for a charge and a milkshake on the way back from the lake, I don’t think it would ruin my day.
I was thinking the opposite. The ~$47K this thing will be out the door puts it in almost dollar for dollar at the MSRP of an F-150 super crew XLT with the tow package. If I were looking for a truck to run a home inspection / landscaping / handyman business that I could tow a boat or RV with I think this thing would…
I wait with bated breath to see these upside down at the Oregon sand dunes.
Fair point, mode a Model X MSRPs at $79k, putting it right in line with an I-Pace or eTron which seem to be positioned as direct competitors.
Ugh. I’m sure I’ll be seeing these worn by women on Tinder who will be holding either a fish or an AR-15 any minute now.
“A fortune” is a relative term, but a Model 3 is solidly in BMW 2/3 series territory and Model S/X money puts them up against a 5 series or X5.
The fact that no one is selling an “Americanized” Jimny in the US is truly a missed opportunity.
