You forgot the most important aspect of being a contractor, really, it’s the only aspect. A contractor decides what they want to be paid and it’s up to the customer to agree to the contract.

I have never had an issue buying a vehicle with a lien. You show up with straight cash homie, you go to the bank that holds the lien and the seller pays off the loan right then and there. Of course, this won’t work if the lien is held by some far-flung institution.
