he started off sombrely while being humorous rather than making a joke, and ended with making jokes and almost irreverent rather than insightful and jokey. he’s not the same colbert of the colbert report in that his commentary is just not as meaty and thoughtful. i’m sure i could say more in some intelligent way but…
