There are multiple similar plugs/switches that don’t cover both outlets, including Wemo’s original and new, even smaller, switches. The TP-Link plugs do work with the Echo but, unfortunately, they don’t work with IFTTT (as you stated) or hubs like Smartthings; dealbreakers for many.
