I agree with that. I tend to think the, er, pot becomes a pot sometime in the third trimester. Some weird mix of personal animistic, syncretism makes me think that, so not generalizable.

I think it attains full “pot-hood” under the law when it comes out of the kiln.

And I think (and I think you are saying the same

It sounds like you’ll make a wonderful, thoughtful, caring nurse. I hope the government doesn’t wear you down with its bureaucratic bullshit.

Thank-you for the point with regard to the semantics we use in these cases.

I work as a nurse, and recently (like, 2 weeks ago) chose to terminate a non-viable (due to anomaly), but much-wanted pregnancy at 22 weeks. The practitioners at the hospital where I had the procedure were cognizant of the medicalized language

Hey, thanks for this. I have FIVE friends who have had abortions.

It’s not her support of Bernie Sanders that makes me question her feminism, but the fact that she chooses to define Clinton by her relationship to her father and her husband, rather than any actual merits or her own accomplishments.

Somehow, the fact that she writes fairly well makes this so much worse.

I keep typing and erasing a comment. But basically, I agree with you. This option should be available for those who want it, but so must abortion.

Totally! I also have a friend who went into very early labor (like, 22 weeks? out of the range of NICU care) with twins, and so knew going in that both babies were going to die. She had to give birth in the normal maternity ward, which was awful, and something resembling perinatal hospice seems like it would be a much

I kind of think of fetuses as lumps of cells in the same that I think of a project I am working on as a lump of clay.

If someone chained me to a bench, and made me turn it, and many other lumps of clay, into pots—that would be no good.

If I am undertaking to make something with that lump of clay, then it is my lump of

NUANCE!!!! This is the thing that pisses me off about the pro-life movement. I am pro-CHOICE to the extreme, but they would have you believe I think we should kill all babies. Uh, no, that’s pro-abortion. It’s a position with some fucking nuance, which is apparently too hard to understand from at least the noisy ones

I don’t understand why the pushback against these bills doesn’t focus on the medical implications. I believe these decisions should be made by the pregnant woman with guidance from her doctor and input from whomever she deems relevant. Obviously, anti-choicers disagree. BUT they’re always going on and on about how

*standsandapplauds* Pro-choice is just that ... CHOICE. If a friend of mine found out that the baby she wants will not survive outside the womb & decided to have an abortion I would stand by her. And if she decided that she wanted to complete the pregnancy to have the few moments with the baby then I would stand by

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! WE CAN DISRUPT THE TROLLING INDUSTRY!!! We are like the uber of kinja, without the awfulness.

This is what I said before:

Awesome, thank you. (And glad to see one of your posts again!)

I’m starring again (got it in your original post too) because this nuance is what’s missing. When I first read the headline I actually thought this was a not-bad-thing being supported by Republicans, and then I understood the context and was able to stop flailing over the edge of that mental cliff.

I don’t think there are any rules anymore...

This is such a weird topic for me to read about... I’m currently in nursing school, and considering this area as a specialty.

Well whaddya know!! Payment mechanisms for perinatal hospice care are undeveloped!!
