He’s just not THAT much of a Socialist. It’s kind of like the guy wearing the Grateful Dead shirt at the mall is a “Libertarian” for that one issue of drug legislation.

Whattya think, 50% of all Chicago missed connection posts? 75%?

In Chicago, Men Are 4x More Likely Than Women to Howl Into the Missed Connections Void

I agree that we need to stop calling child birth without medication “natural.” These birthing centres and home births are still not really “back to nature” because you are out squatting in the woods.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It is always so difficult for me to hear stories with tragic outcomes that could have been prevented by paying attention to red flags.

He’s a pretty basic megalomaniac. So many of them in surgery. #notallsurgeons, certainly, but damn, it attracts a fair amount of them. And this guy takes the cake! It’s scary as hell.

My wife is 10 weeks pregnant with our first. She’s a pediatric nurse, and there was almost no discussion as to whether or not we’d be having our kid in a hospital, that was just how it was. Hospital, with doctors, and machines, and all the knowledge. And as someone who’s got anxiety and appreciates data and plans, I

I keep starring posts in this comment section, and you keep being the author of said posts. Thanks

I don’t care how “brilliant” this asshole is supposed to be. After the statements he made, there is no way in hell I’d let him near my child with a scalpel. Hatred is hatred, even when spoken softly. This man sounds psychotic.

What I can gather from this is that most of your impressions are from anecdotal “feelings”. I think this is a very dangerous stance regarding healthcare. I know the stereotype for physicians is the “brilliant asshole”, who just tells people what they need and saves their lives without taking into account their

Of course it's anecdotal. But there are complaints that doctors decide in advance what is best for the patient and don't take individual patient needs into account. I wanted to point out an example of a midwife doing the same thing. There's no perfect group of caregivers. And I don't find the article very balanced.

I’m curious. What evidence did your midwife present you with that was a “con” against Vitamin K?

I did prenatal with midwives and they monitored my labor and I went to the birthing center at 5cm. The way the midwife on hand treated me that night is one of the most upsetting experiences of my entire life. The hospital I transferred too was miles and miles better, more competent and compassionate. It’s not a sure

Oh, honey, please what is this amateur nonsense. I am the Queen of Sleep. I am a sleep pro. You get an A for effort, but your execution is all wrong.

My sister’s midwife was terrible and ignored mutiple red flags throughout a two day labor process which nearly resulted in the death of my sister and her baby. The midwife and nurse high fived each other at the end of the birth for making it through the most complicated labor they’d ever done. Reading up on the

I spent all of yesterday biting my tongue while my coworkers talked about all the reasons we couldn’t allow refugees into the country. I went home in such a terrible mood, I just lay in bed for an hour. I know that how I feel is like, a speck of dust compared to the problems facing refugees but seriously, the level of

Since this piece is focusing on (Nurse) Midwives and Midwives in general, I’d like to point out that epidurals may be administered by Anesthesiologists and also Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, of which I am one.

Do you consider it part of a doctor’s job to help patients understand the pros and cons of a medical decision and offer an opinion based on experience and evidence?

Both of you are citing anecdotal evidence so I’d be curious to see what the difference was between midwives and doctors on a large scale.
